Telling Our Stories
St. Peter’s has a rich and meaningful history in Freehold. Our history goes back hundreds of years, but our mission reaches far into the future as we follow the command to love God and love our neighbors in this place. Check back as we collect these stories to share, as we remain rooted in faith, reaching our community, and impacting the world.
The Importance of Pledging

Learning How to Tell our Stories
Telling stories about what it means to be part of St. Peter’s, as a community of faith and in ministry that makes a difference, helps us share the Gospel message of God’s abundant love for everyone. Sometimes this can be challenging for us, though!
If you’re struggling with this practice, here are some suggestions from the Christian Reformed Church of North America:
Draw a faith timeline | On a piece of paper, draw a long line. Fill in major events, such as baptism, graduations, marriage, the birth of children, new jobs, or anything that seemed like an important milestone. Consider where prayers were answered, or you encountered God’s love or provision, and give thanks!
Three-sentence faith story | How would you describe your faith in only three words? How might your words have changed over time? This is a great exercise to share with families or small groups, or as table conversation on Harvest Sunday!
Video Interviews | We would love to add a library to our website of short, 3-minute video interviews from members of our congregation, ministries, and wider community. If you would be interested in participating in an interview or lending some interview or video skills, please let us know!

What is one question you would ask Jesus?
Tell about a time when God felt very close to you and your family.
What is your earliest memory of faith, either at church or at home?
Who has been one of the most influential people in your faith life?
Does St. Peter’s have any special traditions that mean a lot to you?
Have you ever read a book (or seen a movie or video) that changed the way you think about God and your faith?
Talk about a turning point in your life and how God was involved.
What have you learned about God by being at St. Peter’s?
If there was one thing you could tell your younger self about faith, what would it be?
Identify a particular ministry or issue that has become a passion for you. How does your faith support this for you?
