Small Group Ministry

Brotherhood of St. Andrew

The Brotherhood of St. Andrew is a fellowship within the Episcopal Church dedicated to supporting men and youth in their relationship with Christ and participation in God’s kingdom. Participations carry out this mission by through the practice of Daily Prayer, Regular Scripture Study, and Service to others.

At St. Peter’s, the Brotherhood meets monthly on the third Saturday at 9:30 am in the All Saints Conference Room with the Daughters of the King for shared bible study, prayer, fellowship, and food. The gatherings include a zoom option for those who cannot join in person. The monthly gatherings are open to anyone interested.

The Brotherhood began as a group of 12 young men meeting regularly for prayer and Bible study at St. James Church, Chicago, Illinois. Noticing those who were homeless in the streets, they formed a group to reach out and minister to men, following the example of Andrew in bringing his brother Peter to meet Jesus. They brought men from rooming houses and the streets, sober or not, to their Bible study. The first meeting of this new brotherhood was held on St. Andrew’s Day, 1883. In honor of this legacy, many of our members have been active in our outreach ministries to those in need.

Daughters of the King

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, our vision as Daughters of the King is to know Jesus Christ, to make Him known to others, and to become reflections of God’s love throughout the world.

St. Peter’s hosts the St. Francis chapter of The Order of the Daughters of the King®, an Episcopal order for women. The Daughters are are women and girls between the ages of seven and one hundred and seven who desire a closer walk with the Lord. We are Christian women, both lay and ordained, who are strengthened through the discipline of a Rule of Life, and supported through the companionship of our sisters. We are all at different stages of our Christian journey – some have just begun and some have been on this path for a long time. But no matter where we are on our sacred journeys, our primary goal is the same – to know Jesus Christ and to make Him known to others.

At St. Peter’s, the Daughters meets monthly on the third Saturday at 9:30 am in the All Saints Conference Room with the Brotherhood of St. Andrew for shared bible study, prayer, fellowship, and food. The gatherings include a zoom option for those who cannot join in person. The monthly gatherings are open to anyone interested.

The Order began as a women’s Bible Study at Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Manhattan in 1885. Participants called themselves “Daughter of the King.” Filled with devotion to God and desire to share the Gospel, the started to form other Bible Study groups, which became the foundation for the Order of the Daughters of the King. Today, the Order is present in nearly every diocese, throughout the Anglican Communion, and in some Roman Catholic and Lutheran churches.
