Christian Education at St. Peter's Church

I am confident of this, that the one who began a good work among you will bring it to completion by the day of Jesus Christ.

Philippians 1:6

The philosophy of children at St. Peter's is that all baptized persons are, by virtue of baptism, full members of Christ's body, the Church. The Eucharist is made available to all children, at the discretion of their parents, upon their baptism. It is not contingent upon other ceremonies or instruction. Physical nourishment is not denied to children because they do not fully understand nutrition and food properties. Age appropriate nourishment is given beginning with milk and progressing to solid food and from there to foods with varying textures and flavors. The spiritual nourishment of the Body and Blood of our Lord shall not be denied because of a person does not fully understand all of the nuances and levels of meaning of the Holy Eucharist. It is the duty of the parents and the St. Peter's Church School to instruct and explain, in an age appropriate manner, the levels of meaning of the Eucharist. That instruction and explanation includes but is not limited to:
Prayer, Worship and Devotionals
  • Children should not be excluded based on age
  • Age appropriate worship in made available to all members of the Parish
  • Children should be familiar with the Book of Common Prayer, the services, and where to find them

  • Familiarity with the Creeds
